Caravaneo
A campsite map and search for Europe, in several languages. You can describe what you want in plain words and a model turns it into map filters. Everything runs on my own VPS: API, PostGIS, map tiles, nginx and the models.
Krzysztof Maziarka · Softwerk
I’ve been programming for almost 20 years. I’m currently a Senior Scala Developer at Commerce, and in my own time I build Caravaneo and VanDash. I take on B2B work through my own company, Softwerk.
Day to day I write functional Scala: Cats, Fs2, Http4s, Tapir, sttp, Circe. Mostly microservices and APIs.
I’ve done a lot of work with map data: OpenStreetMap, Overpass, PostGIS, Elasticsearch. Plus the infrastructure side: Kubernetes, Kafka, CI/CD.
In Caravaneo I run language models on my own server with llama.cpp. You can type what you’re looking for in plain words and it turns into map filters, and the assistant remembers the conversation. Campsite summaries and ratings are generated offline. For entity recognition and translation I use GLiNER and NLLB.
I use Claude and Cursor every day, at work and on my own projects.
Softwerk is my own business, running since 2011. I use it for B2B contracts and my own projects. Early on I also built iOS apps and websites.
Outside programming: CAD, 3D printing, electronics, welding and rebuilding a camper van.
Scala backend for e‑commerce products in the BigCommerce ecosystem.
Location-based mobile games built on map data, including Monopoly World. Scala microservices, OSM and Overpass data processing, load testing, CI/CD.
B2B contracts and my own projects. Before that, among others, Synerise and TVN, as a developer and team lead.

Telemetry for an off‑grid camper. Sensors talk over ESP‑NOW and the data shows up on a panel in the main unit. I designed the PCBs and firmware myself.
